Reverse Osmosis: How Does it Work?

The human body's 60% is constituted by water, which means more than half of our body mass is in liquid form. This explains the constant need of liquid intake for our system to function smoothly, resulting in our healthy living. Thus it is very important that the water we drink is clean, safe and hygienic. However, due to pollution it is hard to find any fresh water which is safe. Today we rely on artificial processes to remove impurities from water. Filtration, flocculation, sedimentation and PH treatment are some water purification processes. Of these, filtration is commonly used and Reverse Osmosis or RO, a type of filtration is the most effective and widely used.

In reverse osmosis, a mechanical pressure is applied to an impure solution to force pure water through a semi-permeable membrane. It might not be the ultimate water purification process but it has by far proven to be the most efficient means for removing salts, micro-organisms, chemical contaminants and heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, etc., from water. RO systems come incorporated in water coolers and water dispensers along with other water treatment features.

Water coolers like Vertex PWC-1000R has RO, a 2 temperature system and is fully assembled with tanks made of stainless steel with LED indicator for hot and cold water in the front and individual on/off control switches for cold or hot water on the rear panel. It also features a built-in safety lock for hot water faucet. These type of water coolers, popularly known as hot and cold Point of Use water coolers connect directly to your building's tap water, filter the incoming water and then heat or cool the water for great tasting purified drinking water.

Other hot and cold POU water coolers ideal for home or office use that maintain dual temperatures for providing instant hot water and refreshing cold water any time are available atCooler-store.com.
